Do you sometimes feel like you’re in a Tom Cruise film?

Eh?

Have you never noticed that every Tom Cruise film follows the same basic plot which mirrors life and business more than we realise?

He’s a cocktail maker, he’s a pretty good cocktail maker until he has a crisis of confidence….
….then he meets a beautiful women who gives him the confidence to be an even better cocktail maker.

Then he’s a racing car driver, he’s a pretty good racing car driver until he has a crisis of confidence….
….then he meets a beautiful women who gives him the confidence to be an even better racing car driver.

Then he’s a jet fighter pilot, he’s a pretty good jet fighter pilot until he has a crisis of confidence….
….then he meets a beautiful women who gives him the confidence to be an even better jet fighter pilot.

It’s story as old as time and forms the backbone of many a gripping tale.

We all have occasional crisis of confidence at work and at home. You may be the most competent person in your field yet every so often you will have a nagging doubt.

(Insert your name) is a great (insert your occupation/task/activity), then suddenly for one day (insert your name) has a crisis of confidence for no apparent reason....
....then (insert your name) decided to (insert action) and became an even better (insert occupation/task/activity).

What we do about it defines us and has the potential to make a Hollywood epic.

Some people keep the crisis inside and attempt to resolve it themselves; something I used to do. I’ve recently found the best way to move forwards is to talk to people; it can be anyone, it really doesn’t matter. Get your thoughts, fears and feelings out and you are making progress towards getting some clarity and confidence.

Who will you turn to as your beautiful woman?
